Maui  Hawai'i  2010

These are sights and views from our condo

noelani Condo Resort

.

the road to hana  was crazy and long.  600 turns and 3 hours to drive 50 miles.

plenty of stops to take pictures and marvel at the scenic beauty.  The black sand beach in hana was breath taking.  the blue water crashing on the black basalt rocks  created a dramatic view.

.

AFTER HANA, WE PROCEEDED ON TO THE HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK.

THERE IS A 4 MILE HIKE  TO/FROM WAIMOKU FALLS.

TO GET TO THE FALLS YOU HIKE  PAST A GIANT BANYAN TREE, THROUGH A EUCALYPTUS FOREST THEN THROUGH A LARGE BAMBOO FOREST.

THE WATER FALLS 400 FEET DOWN A SHEER LAVA ROCK WALL AT THE END OF A 2 MILE LONG CANYON.

Our snorkel trip to the island of Lana'i was interesting.  We were able to see Maui from afar and snorkel in different waters.

We WERE ABLE TO SEE LOTS OF HUMPBACK WHALES.

.

We drove to the summit of haleakala, the dormant volcano.  The drive is from 0 to 10,000 feet in just over 30 miles.  one side of the volcano is the 2nd wettest spot on earth.

the other side is very dry.  This area is considered up country or cowboy country.

wWE SNORKELED IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS

TURTLE TOWN, CORAL GARDENS AND LANa'I
