It was our first time in this wonderful country. We were here in April-May. We can easily say this was one of the friendliest spots in the Caribbean we have found.
Our plane to Ambergris Caye, a quick hop from Belize International.
You get to sit right in the action on the flight over.
We stayed at Xanadu Resort.
This is the pier at Xanadu, a nice cool place to hang out when it gets really
hot.
Xanadu Hotel viewed from the pier.
Free bikes
and kayaks make Xanadu a great value. The pool is
beach side so you get a nice breeze when reading that spy novel. The staff
is very friendly. Alex will climb a coconut palm tree and toss down a
couple then cut them open so you can taste the milk inside.
Dave trying to eat a coconut
old school way.
Dave's BEST of BELIZE AMBERGRIS CAYE list:
Party Bar- Hammock House, it sits up on stilts and Jimmy Buffet would be proud. Just past the cut.
Arts and Crafts shopping - Orange, great woods and pottery. We got a great bowl.
Hotel beach -
Victoria House expansive beach lots of tall palms.
Very upscale darling.
Service -
Casa Picasso, elegantly understated, Chris the owner waited on us and we felt
right at home. Lots of cubist style paintings, give that Espana feeling.
The Walnut Pesto Pasta was great. Also a late night happy hour with video for
entertainment.

Desert - Casa Picasso. Lori had Bananas Picasso with a toffee rum sauce and Dave had a brownie with chocolate mouse. Yummy. We took home a Key lime pie slice, wow.
Breakfast - Duane's
Kitchen, eggs, super fresh breakfast burritos are to die for. Lori had the
fry jacks they were very light and fluffy, tasty. Once again
Nolan, Duane and Dave made us feel right at home. Check out Duane's art
collection.
Home cooking - Papis Diner, Papi was really nice, seafood very fresh and even hamburgers great. Best rum punch on the Island.
Ice cream - Manelli's
Ocean view dining - Ramons, huge deck right on the beach. Very reasonably priced,
entertainment at night.
BBQ night only 10.00-20.00 US dollars.
Tropical Drinks - El Divino at Banana Beach Resort, great Coladas and Martinis.
Somehow Lori and I always managed to have a dog sitting or laying next to us at just about every restaurant.
This dog just wanted to visit.
???
Dave hanging out in the airport baggage claim/ waiting room/ departure/ arrival
area on the way home.
Lori relaxing at Fido's.
Fast food alley a local hang out. Not a McDonalds in sight!
Main
street San Pedro. Nice shops don't be deceived by the dirt streets.
The Monkey amusement park.... I have no Idea what that was all about.
SNORKELING
We took a half day snorkel trip to Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley.
Dave the wonder fish
Rays were plentiful

The sharks were a little more shy
Main street San Pedro. We found bikes the best way to get around.
HOTELS:
Mata Rocks Bar
She
looks a little tired. Banyan Bay
Rico's is on their beach nice place to eat.
The beach bars are spaced nicely about a few hundred yards apart. Just far
enough to get thirsty again
